Mickey and Minnie

Last weekend, Harbin and Catherine had their 4 and 2 year old birthday parties. This year's theme was Mickey and Minnie's Playhouse. The kids woke up healthy and excited to party with all of their friends and family.

We had a great turnout including lots of their little friends. All of the kids were adorable in their Mickey and Minnie ears, and they enjoyed getting to run around and play with one another.

Thanks to everyone for helping out and making the day so special. Special thanks to Jamie and Derek for helping me set up and decorate, Amy for making Catherine's adorable dress, mom for making the cakes, Susan for having a first aid kit (we had one little accident), and all the out of town guests for traveling so far.

Harbin turns 4!

Well, we have finally broken the pattern and Harbin was NOT sick on his birthday today.

We went to church this morning and he was excited to tell everyone he was 4 years old. After church we headed to Chuckie Cheese- at Harbin's request, of course. We had pizza for lunch and the kids had a great time playing all the arcades and kids games. He was even able to use his tickets and get a pirate hat and hook so he can dress up as Captain Hook.

Now we are anxiously awaiting the kids official party this weekend, when all the family will join us to celebrate.

Enjoy the pics of how my little guy is growing up!

Happy Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day a bit different this year. Instead of romantic flowers, music, mood lighting, etc, there was sweat, rain, and a lot of exercise.

This year's annual Run the Reagan was today. Scott ran the 10K (his first ever) and came in 2nd in his age division with a great time of 43:20. We all ran the 1-mile Fun Run. The girls rode in the stroller and Harbin raced. He RAN the whole thing an finished his first race in an incredible 10 minutes 45 seconds!!! We were so proud of him!!!

Among the other finishers were some of our friends. Joanie finished the 5K in second place in her age division with a time of 23:42. Ken finished his FIRST race ever (5K) in under 40 minutes. And, Sam (Harbin's friend) finished the 1-mile Fun Run, too!

The amazing thing is that even after all that exercise, Harbin had no problem joining Catherine on the bounce houses and other festivities.

We hope everyone else had a very nice Valentine's Day. Tomorrow is someone's birthday, so I am sure I will blog again soon :) !!!

From 1 to 2, Catherine's Year in Review

Yesterday my little girl turned 2!! It seems impossible to believe that she is that old already!!

As is tradition in our family, she awoke with a fever (my kids have been sick on every one of their birthdays). She was obviously stuffy and her head hurt (and everything else if you asked her, but she managed well and still seemed to enjoy her day.

Aunt Crickett was down visiting us and the kids and I spent the day with her. We did lunch and had some fun at home. Catherine really loved the Birthday Princess stuff Aunt Crickett got her!!

That evening we did dinner at Ippolito's (the most incredible Italian restaurant ever). Even though it was a later dinner, we were lucky to be able to celebrate with my mom, dad and sister (and all their respective others-now too many to list)!!

The Ippolito's staff came to sing to Catherine and at first she was unsure, but I think she liked it. She got to blow out two candles on her Canoli dessert.

All-in-all she had a great day! Of course, this morning she woke up with no fever and seems to be feeling much better.

Enjoy the slideshow of pics of Catherine throughout the last year!

Lydia is 7 months

Lydia was 7 months old this past Sunday and we just can't believe how quickly the time is passing. She is now able to completely sit up on her own and although she doesn't crawl yet, she can get about anywhee she wants. She has aboa 6-foot "reach" radius around her which is actually pretty impressive to watch. She will often scoot on her bottom across the hardwoods to whatever it is she wants to get.

She has cut two teeth now and is eating more solids each day. She loves to chew on pretzels and bread, and we have recently added baby foods like green beans and peas to her cereal.

About three weeks ago she started babbling Dadda and, of course, a week later she learned Mamma. She loves to talk and does it often, usually with lots of enthusiasm.

Well that's it for now. I have another post to write, but wanted to give each child their "deserved" moment here on the blog!!!

It's our month of birthday celebrations, so be on the lookout for more birthday posts!
