Thanksgiving was a wonderful time to spend with family. Although we're officially "off" on our rotating schedule of Chattanooga and Atlanta, we spent tim in Chattanooga this year since Scott wasn't home for Thanksgiving last year. Sadly I got no pics while we were up there! I have been horrible about the camera lately. Probably something to do with being able to use my phone and just snap a quick pic. I did manage to capture some pre-Thanksgiving renovation pictures. We began working to tear down the wall between the family room and kitchen and make a more "open-concept" living area. We have moved the laundry room to the basement and the plan is to eventually get new cabinets. For now we are working to patch up floors and get ready to lay the hardwoods we purchased. We were planning to have the ceilings smoothed but have decided to install a plank ceiling in the kitchen because it was much cheaper. I promise to post more pics as we make more progress on the job, but here's what I have for now!

The kids and I had the privledge of visiting one of the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox distribution centers. Many of you have seen maybe even participated in the Shoe Box Project near Christmastime where people donate a shoe box full of toys and goodies for needy children across the world. Well, Atlanta has one of the distribution centers where the boxes are sorted, organized, labeled and then shipped out for delivery. For two years our co-op has been trying to schedule a field trip there but the time slots are always taken. This year, we were lucky enough to get two time slots and the kids and I had a free day to visit the center. We were also watching my nephew, Wesley, that day, so he got to tag along too!

For Scott's birthday I took him and some friends of ours to the Ropes Course over at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center. I had never really done ropes courses before, but it was so much fun. Scott and I had a great time swinging like monkeys from the trees and I was impressed with my ability despite being totally out of shape!! .

This year for Halloween the kids went as Avenger Characters. Harbin and my nephew Wesley were HawkEye, Catherine was Black Widow, Lydia was Miss America (aka Captain America) and Ella was the Hulk (she just didn't like wearing her Hulk hands much). The first pic is of Harbin and one of the high schoolers at Young Life's annual Farm-O-Ween. Harbin dressed as HawkEye and Time dressed as his Arrow. It was pretty cute watching them walk around like that all evening. The remaining pics are of the children Trick-or-treating in Mom's neighborhood. We managed to hit a few houses where some of Scott's students lived, and eventually we ended up back at mom's for hot chocolate and a snack. When we got back home the kids liked dumping out their candy and inhaling whatever we continued to say yes too. Ella couldn't believe her eyes at all the candy she got or her ears when we kept saying she could eat it! Happy Halloween! The mom.
